Akima Data Management is seeked a Technical Editor/Writer in support of our government client. The technical editor/writer provides services in support of Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD), a peer-reviewed research journal within the CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and HealthPromotion (NCCDPHP) in Atlanta, Georgia.ResponsibilitiesRead, edit, and rewrite scientific manuscripts and supplemental materials for PCD publication, work with authors to revise their submissions according to PCD standards:Consult with authors to clarify their ideas and organize the structure of their manuscripts and supplemental materials effectively.Identify and ask authors to correct internal inconsistencies, such as text-to-table discrepancies, and content errors, such as mathematical mistakes.Evaluate the use of tables and figures and suggesting when appropriate the addition or removal of tables and figures.Edit manuscripts in Word.Proof articles in HTML.Edit and proof PCD materials such as website updates, announcements, the Year in Review, and other PCD communications materials.Qualifications Bachelors DegreeMust be able to obtain a Public Trust.Minimum of 2-3 years of consecutive experience editing scientific manuscripts.Knowledge of tracking features in Word.In-depth knowledge of eXtyles manuscript processing.Strong oral and written communication.Excellent organizational.Ability to work independently and as part of an editorial.Job ID2026-23732Work TypeRemotePay Range$90,000.00 - $95,000.00BenefitsRegular - The company offers a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) and a range of other voluntary benefits.
