About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and analytical Retail Loss Prevention Investigator to join their team in Chicago, Illinois, US . This role is integral to safeguarding company assets and minimizing shrinkage across our retail locations. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong investigative skills, and a comprehensive understanding of loss prevention strategies within the retail sector. This position will involve a combination of on-site investigations and remote analysis, offering a dynamic work experience. You will play a key role in detecting and preventing theft, fraud, and other security risks, ensuring a safe and secure environment for both employees and customers. This role is essential for maintaining the financial health and integrity of our retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough investigations into incidents of theft, fraud, and policy violations within retail stores. Develop and implement proactive loss prevention strategies to reduce shrinkage and protect company assets. Monitor surveillance systems and analyze CCTV footage to identify suspicious activities. Interview employees, customers, and witnesses to gather information and evidence. Prepare detailed incident reports, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and legal counsel when necessary. Conduct regular store audits to assess compliance with loss prevention policies and procedures. Train store personnel on loss prevention awareness and best practices. Analyze loss prevention data to identify trends and patterns, providing insights for improvement. Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail loss prevention, investigations, or asset protection. Strong understanding of investigative techniques, interviewing skills, and evidence collection. Proficiency in operating CCTV systems and loss prevention software. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise reports. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, with flexibility for occasional travel. Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to retail security and investigations. Ability to work a hybrid schedule, balancing on-site duties with remote work.
