Apetan Consulting LLC is seeking a VMware Cloud on AWS Engineer/SME to design, implement, manage, and optimize hybrid cloud environments using VMware Cloud on AWS. The role involves cloud migrations, infrastructure management, performance optimization, and operational support of VMware-based workloads running on AWS.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud on AWS environments
• Perform workload migrations from on-premises VMware infrastructure to VMware Cloud on AWS
• Configure and manage SDDC components including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, availability, and capacity
• Implement networking, security, and disaster recovery solutions
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, connectivity, and performance issues
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Collaborate with cloud, networking, security, and application teams
• Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
• Provide L2/L3 support and technical guidance for cloud operations

• Strong experience with: VMware Cloud on AWS
• Strong experience with: VMware vSphere
• Strong experience with: VMware vCenter Server
• Strong experience with: VMware NSX
• Strong experience with: VMware vSAN
• Good understanding of AWS services including: Amazon EC2
• Good understanding of AWS services including: Amazon VPC
• Good understanding of AWS services including: AWS IAM
• Good understanding of AWS services including: Amazon S3
• Experience with hybrid cloud architecture and migrations
• Knowledge of networking concepts (VPN, Direct Connect, routing, firewall policies, DNS)
• Experience with PowerShell, PowerCLI, or Python scripting
• Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• VMware certifications such as: VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
• VMware certifications such as: VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
• AWS certifications such as: AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• AWS certifications such as: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
• Knowledge of automation and DevOps practices
