[Remote] Sr. Backend Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. PHT Staffing LLC is seeking an experienced Sr. Backend Engineer for a contract opportunity. The role involves designing and developing microservices-based distributed systems, with a strong emphasis on backend engineering, TypeScript, and Node.js.
Responsibilities
- Minimum 8+ years of Backend Engineering experience with strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js
- Hands-on experience designing and developing microservices-based distributed systems
- Strong production experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and messaging systems
- Experience with Confluent Kafka is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, service communication, error handling, observability, and system scalability
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, transactions, and database optimization
- Strong cloud experience with AWS services such as EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments
- Experience with unit testing frameworks such as Jest or Vitest
- Experience with end-to-end testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
- Strong understanding of testing strategies including unit, integration, and E2E testing approaches
- Experience troubleshooting issues across multiple integrated systems and services
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have experience working on FDA-regulated software applications within Pharma, Biotech, Healthcare, Medical Devices, or Laboratory domains
- Experience with EHR/Healthcare integrations, Redox, or healthcare interoperability platforms is a strong plus
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as Jama is preferred
- Experience using modern AI developer tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted engineering tools
