Atilax Executive Search is seeking a talented Backend / Full-Stack Software Engineer for a fast-growing early-stage startup focused on building financial infrastructure for the construction industry. The role involves solving complex engineering problems, building scalable systems, and collaborating with a high-performing engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services powering mission-critical products
• Develop reliable APIs and real-time data synchronization systems
• Integrate with complex third-party and legacy software platforms
• Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to deliver impactful features
• Contribute to engineering best practices and help shape the company's technical culture

Skills

• 1–4 years of professional experience as a Backend or Full-Stack Software Engineer
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Recent experience at an early-stage startup (Seed to Series B)
• Strong ownership mindset with experience shipping production-ready software
• Experience designing and building scalable backend systems
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from a Top 25 undergraduate university in the United States or Canada
• Candidates with bootcamp-only education will not be considered
• Strong backend engineering experience
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Experience building scalable APIs and distributed backend systems
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Passion for backend engineering rather than AI/LLM-focused development
• Self-motivated and highly accountable
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
• Low ego, collaborative, and team-oriented
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Passionate about building high-quality engineering culture and scalable products
