[Remote] Chief Innovation & Growth Officer, American Society of Safety Professionals
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Tuft & Associates, Inc. is conducting a search for the Chief Innovation & Growth Officer for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), a global association focused on occupational safety and health. The CIGO will lead organizational growth and innovation strategies, oversee business development, and foster strategic partnerships to enhance ASSP's influence and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for Sales/Business Development, Standards Development and Technical Services functions to support organizational growth, market influence, and long-term sustainability
- Develop and execute enterprise growth, innovation and revenue diversification strategies that identify, test, and scale new products, services, partnerships, and business models aligned with organizational strategy, member needs and market demand
- Lead the evolution of sales and business development practices from transactional activity to strategic, value-based relationships by establishing disciplined account management, pipeline oversight, revenue forecasting, and performance accountability
- Build and maintain relationships with senior executives, enterprise clients, industry leaders, technical experts, and strategic stakeholders to strengthen organizational credibility, influence, and long-term business opportunities
- Identify, structure, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborative initiatives that expand organizational reach, increase market impact, and create measurable value while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and brand integrity
- Oversee the development, maintenance and practical application of professional safety standards, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise to address industry needs and support organizational growth strategies
- Lead efforts to translate technical expertise, standards, and organizational knowledge into commercially viable solutions, services, and offerings that create measurable value for members, partners, and external organizations
- Establish and monitor enterprise growth metrics, revenue targets, pipeline performance indicators, and risk measures to assess organizational health, support forecasting discipline and drive strategic decision-making
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and market opportunities to inform innovation strategies, partnership development, and long-range organizational positioning
- Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and lead cross-functional initiatives that strengthen organizational capabilities, drive transformation efforts, and foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Provides leadership, coaching, and performance oversight for leaders, and staff within assigned functions
- Establishes clear expectations, accountability measures and development strategies to drive high performance
- Recruits, develops, and retains talent aligned with organizational goals and growth priorities
- Aligns team structure, staffing, and workforce capabilities with strategic and operational needs
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Leads organizational change initiatives and promotes cross-functional alignment to support growth and market objectives
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, risk management, business administration, or a related field required
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in safety, business development, standards development, technical services, or related functions
- Demonstrated experience leading organizational growth, market expansion, standards initiatives, or business development efforts at an enterprise level
- Experience integrating sales, marketing, and business development functions into a unified growth strategy
- Experience launching new products, services or revenue streams
- Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with clients, partners or stakeholders
- Experience developing and executing strategic plans, managing budgets, and achieving measurable performance outcomes
- Experience supervising and developing professional staff and leading cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise revenue generation, sales, business development, and marketing strategies, including market expansion and partnership development
- Demonstrated knowledge of occupational safety, risk management, standards development, or related professional practice
- Demonstrated ability to lead innovation strategies, develop new solutions, and translate emerging opportunities into measurable organizational value
- Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial data, develop forecasts, and align growth strategies with organizational sustainability
- Ability to develop and execute long-term strategic plans that drive revenue growth, market presence, and organizational impact
- Skill in building and maintaining relationships with senior leaders, partners, clients and key stakeholders
- Ability to lead, develop, and align high-performing teams across sales and business development
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision-making and represent the organization effectively
- Ability to analyze complex information, identify opportunities and risks, and implement data-informed solutions
- Skilled in managing multiple priorities and leading organizational change in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of performance measurement practices, including pipeline management, revenue metrics and return on investment analysis
- Ability to operate effectively within governance structures while ensuring alignment with organizational mission, values and strategic priorities

- Full-time position with the ability to work M-F during normal business hours. May be expected to occasionally work outside of normal business hours
