We provide interpreting services to government and private sector clients throughout the five boroughs in medical, social, and legal settings. Position Overview: As a freelance medical interpreter, you will provide in-person, over-the-phone, and video remote interpreting services to bridge communication between healthcare professionals and patients in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare environments. Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear communication between medical providers and patients, rendering messages accurately from the source language to the target language.
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to the medical interpreter code of ethics.
• Complete necessary documentation and reports of interpreter services provided.
• Uphold confidentiality and impartiality during each interpreting encounter.
• Follow the medical interpreter role without summarizing, paraphrasing, or omitting information.

Requirements:

• Bilingual proficiency in English and at least one other language.
• Previous experience as a medical interpreter is preferred, but not required.
• Professional interpreter training is highly recommended
• Ability to remain objective and unobtrusive while interpreting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
