Lyceum College invites applications from qualified and passionate individuals to serve as Tutors for the Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching programme. This role is integral to supporting student success in a distance learning environment through academic guidance, student engagement, tutorial facilitation, assessment support, and student wellness initiatives. Subject Areas We are currently seeking tutors for the following modules: Academic Literacy English 1 Conversational Afrikaans Conversational isiZulu Conversational Sesotho Mathematics 1 Life Skills 1 Critical Thinking Afrikaans 1 Teaching Practice 1 and 2

Key Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be required to: Facilitate one online tutorial session per month for allocated modules. Provide academic support and guidance to students. Mark tutorial activities and provide constructive developmental feedback. Conduct student wellness check-ins and identify students who may require additional support. Respond to student queries within agreed turnaround times. Monitor student participation and engagement. Maintain accurate records of tutorial attendance and student interactions. Collaborate with module coordinators and academic staff to support student success. Adhere to institutional policies, procedures, and academic standards.

Sound knowledge of student-centred teaching and learning practices. Effective time management and organisational skills. Ability to provide constructive academic feedback. Competence in the use of digital learning platforms and educational technologies. Commitment to student success and academic excellence. Minimum Requirements A Bachelor of Education Honours (BEd Honours) qualification in a relevant field. Experience in teaching, tutoring, facilitation, or academic support within higher education or school environments. Strong subject matter knowledge in the relevant discipline. Access to a computer and reliable internet connectivity. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Added Advantage Experience in distance or online education. Experience facilitating tutorials in higher education. Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE). Postgraduate qualifications beyond BEd Honours. Workload One tutorial session per month per allocated module. Marking of tutorial activities and assessments. Student wellness check-ins and academic support activities.
