The Staff Engineer Cloud Software role involves owning cloud-native architecture design and implementation, writing production-grade code, and mentoring engineers within a cloud software team.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud-native architecture design and implementation across complex AWS environments
• Write high-quality, production-grade code in TypeScript, C++, and Rust
• Drive distributed systems engineering — microservices, event-driven architecture, scalable and fault-tolerant design
• Champion CI/CD best practices, automated testing, and code review culture
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GxP, and GDPR within cloud environments
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction at a senior level

Skills

• 8+ years software development experience, with at least 4 years cloud-native focused
• Strong hands-on AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, and databases
• Fluency in shell scripting and command-line tooling (Bash, PowerShell, or equivalent)
• Proven track record with containerisation, IaC, and distributed systems at scale
• Exposure to regulated environments (HIPAA, GxP, FDA) — a significant advantage
• FinOps and cloud security experience highly valued as secondary skills
