The platform provides tools and resources to ensure that local stories are told authentically and effectively, bridging the gap in regional news coverage. Role Description This is a full-time or part-time on-site role for an Independent Journalist, located in cities and towns where newspapers have closed or independent journalism is underrepresented. The Independent Journalist will focus on reporting and producing compelling news stories, creating press releases, conducting thorough research, and engaging in news writing, interviews and broadcasting. Responsibilities also include identifying local stories, interviewing sources, and ensuring accurate and ethical reporting to meet deadlines. MyLocalPress.com publishes news, videos, interviews, podcasts, or live broadcasts as independent journalists or entities. Publishers can sell ads and coupons to local businesses using built-in ad creation and payment tools, including recurring payments with credit cards. MyLocalPress.com gives independent journalists everything needed to launch and run a profitable online news business, including AI tools for research, writing, publishing, marketing, ad creation, mobile apps for in the field reporting and content viewing and a billing system.

• Duties
• Research, write, and produce compelling news stories that adhere to AP style guidelines for clarity and consistency
• Capture high-quality photographs and videography to complement written content, enhancing storytelling through visual media
• Edit articles, videos, and photos to ensure accuracy, coherence, and polished presentation before publication
• Fact-check all information thoroughly to maintain credibility and journalistic integrity
• Manage social media channels by posting updates, engaging with followers, and promoting stories to maximize reach
• Collaborate with editors and multimedia teams to develop innovative content formats including videos and social media campaigns
• Proofread and copy edit all content for grammatical accuracy, style consistency, and readability
• Requirements
• Proven experience in journalism or digital media with a strong portfolio of published work
• Excellent writing skills with a keen eye for detail and adherence to AP style standards
• Proficiency in photography and videography techniques, including basic videography equipment handling and editing software
• Strong research skills to verify facts quickly and accurately under tight deadlines
• Ability to produce engaging video content through video production and editing tools
• Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to reach broader audiences effectively
• Exceptional communication skills for clear collaboration within a fast-paced newsroom environment
• Experience managing social media platforms with a strategic approach to audience engagement
• Knowledge of copywriting, proofreading, copy editing, and social media management best practices
