Job Posting Title: Grants & Contracts Specialist - Office of the Associate Dean for Research---- Hiring Department: Office of the Associate Dean for Research---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40---- FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA---- Earliest Start Date: Jul 20, 2026---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Jul 31, 2027---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS---- Job Details: General Notes This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based upon performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship. Ability to work remotely within the state of Texas. Purpose This position will provide both pre- and post-award grants and contracts services to various principal investigators within the Office of the Associate Dean for Research at the School for Social Work.

Responsibilities

Manage budgeting, contract compliance, financial reporting, and business operations for research and training accounts within the School of Social Work. Coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) on billing and other post-award financial matters. Coordinate, monitor, and review account expenditures. Answer inquiries regarding account balances, salary projections, and allowable purchases. Support the development and submission of competitive grant proposals. Assist with budget preparation, proposal narratives, document uploads, and review of sponsor and university requirements to ensure timely and compliant submissions. Coordinate the submission and processing of contracts and subcontracts through the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), including amendments, renewals, and associated documentation. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in business or public administration, social sciences, or technical/scientific field with at least 3 years of experience in the preparation, processing, and negotiation of research grant and contract proposals. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline driven research office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent time-management skills. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Values the contributions of others in the work environment. Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in business or public administration, social sciences, or technical/scientific field with at least 3 years of experience in managing research accounts in a university setting. Experience with account management at UT-Austin, including knowledge of *DEFINE, Workday, Research Management System (RMS) and University of Texas Research Management System (UTRMS), Financial Resource Management System (FRMS), Point Plus, Zoom and Cognos. One year of supervisory experience. Experience submitting grant proposals and processing contracts. Experience in Pre-Award Grant processing. Certified Research Administrator. Advanced experience with Excel.
